Chapter 12

He dies... yes you read that correctly, PAUL DIES): This whole time your waiting for the happy ending where paul is the only one of his friends that lives and he goes home to his family BUT NO he dies): i just wanted to cry and it happened on such a quiet day and of course his last words, which made me want to cry even more, "All quiet on the western front" it says his face was calm and that is was like he was happy to end there which i guess i can say i don't blame him. That boy—— that man went through so much in his life at such a such a young age. I take back what i said in chapter 11 this, is probably the most heartbraking, most depressing chapter ever. But everything happens for a reason...

Chapter 11
Wow...so many deaths. This was probably one of the most sadest chapters.All of Paul's friends die leaving him as the only man left from his class that came to the war. It's sad that his friends have come this far when it's so closing to being over, and they all die... Even though the end of the war is near, that doesn't mean that the soldiers now get a much of yucky food and old weapons, now they're really going to lose. These guys should be treated like kings for what they are doing.

Chapter 9 & 10

okay so i agree that there really is no reason for war. Like it says on page 206, "And every full grown emperor requires at least one war, otherwise he would not become famous. You look in your school books." Also this chapter shows that Paul really doesn't want to be in war and killing people. It was very sad when Paul stabed that guy like he probably has a family back home...
Honestly Paul's got some skill, being bombed and still makes it to the guys with all the pancakes. I think the guys deserved that little treat, the work so hard. I was a little worried when Kropp and Paul got injuried but they're fine, they're tough men. I thought it was sweet when Lewandowski got to see his wife again. Also always going home to see his family must be hurting paul becauce he always has to say good bye and then theres the chance he might not come back.

Chapter 8

So this chapter really made me think. Paul's right. He is killing these men just because he is told to. This reminds me of the poem we read in class, "The Man He Killed" where it's like if he had met his "enemies" anywhere else like a bar he wouldn't try to kill him. Like Paul when he thinks to himself (page 190) "It is strange to see these enemies of ours so close up. They have faces that make on think— honest peasant faces" I also think it's very nice what Paule does for the captured Russians, giving them food and all. Also it's also really sweet when his sister and father come and say goodbye.

Chapter 7

okay so i think this book boring but this did make me laugh. "And other tasty bits too, we roll our eyes and try to explain with our hands. Leer nearly drowns trying to demonstrate a sausage." yeah, it made me laugh...(: anywayss when the guys went with those girls i was happy. They deserve to have a little fun once and a while. An example that is very touching is when paul is kissing the brunette and it says " I want it all to fall from me, war and terror and grossness, in order to awaken young and happy" that really shows that there's no turning back tp the past of their youths, they are men now and it's all thanks to the war. On top of the struggles of war, when Paul goes to his hometown he finds that his mother has cancer, that's dreadful): and when he jumps when he hears the noise that sounds like shells, it's just heartbraking. I think this chapter overall was just heartbraking...

Chapter 6

SO i am finding this book rather boring. So in this chapter they are bake in the battle ground. I think it's terrible that they have to go through such bad conditions! So yeah they're in war fighting for their country but i don't find it interesting, i've never liked the concept of war. I feel bad when Paul is like “belong to another world that is gone from us.” he's talking about his youth and really they got into the war at such a young age that they wll never be able to get the pleasure of being young again. Also i tihink that Himmelstoss is a big jerk that likes attention like really who fakes an injury IN WAR?! It also came to a shock that there are only 32 out of the 150 men left! It's so sad...

Chapter 5 ( the geese)

When the whole thing with the geese happened, it made me think and question myself. Why did these men have to sneak out and kill geese for extra food? Was the chef still not giving them the right amount of food? Or was it that they just wanted something different? Someone like to explain?
