Okay so while reading chapter 3 i was very surprised that most of the new recruits are only 17! Also i like Kat's way of thinking about how the soldiers should get payed and fed the same because that's how it should be i don't know why it would be any different. now on to Himmelstoss. So when i read about what he did to the bed wetters i did two things. one, i kinda' laughed. Two, i wanted to puke. i found it funny that that idiot, Himmelstoss, did what he did like what does that help with, like really?! But also i found it aboslutely disgusting that that happened and like it says how to prevent getting peed on during the night they'd sleep on the floor and get a cold, and face it, that's not very healthy which means they're sending sick men out to fight and they'll be weak so they won't do as good and their loss will be because of that brainless leader Himmelstoss. So what any man with the hunger for revenge would have done, Tjaden and his pals beat him up! Some of your might think that revenge is never the answer or what ever but i think in this case it is acceptable. Himmelstoss might be the leader but that gives him no right to do what he did.Yes he might have been a nice man before but war does indeed ruin a guy.

The war probably ruined many people. They saw death everywhere and it hardened them to the point of unfeeling. This was the only way to survive. Most probably weren't as bad as Himmelstoss though.
