Chapter 4
Okay so chapter for was more about the men actually fighting which i found very boring bgut there was one thing the did infact catch my attention. The new recruit that wet his pants during battle and Paul. So what i found sweet was when Paul took the new recruit in and helped him take cover instead of just letting the new guy die it was really nice. When that new recruit at the end though got wounded and Paul and Kat decided that they'd kill him, for they knew he really had no chance in living. The thing is yes they knew they'd be helping him by not letting him suffer when he had no chance but that's not really their decision they should atleast go to the recruit and see what he thinks it's un fair to him that Kat and Paul i have the choice to kill him there or not.

Shooting the new recruit was like shooting a horse that is down, he was suffering and and he needed to be put out of his misery. If he were to live, those last days would be agonising and he would just die in the end anyway. Why put him through more suffering? The boys were looking out for the recruit. Besides, the recriut was in agonising pain and he wasn't right, it wouldn't do any good to ask the recruit what he wanted to do because he would be overcome by the pain he wouldn't answer clearly.
ReplyDeleteYes but unlike a horse the recruit can talk. what if even though he knows he's gonna die he wanted to maybe write a letter back home to his family or take one last look at his belongings and memories? I mean like dieing in battle probably isn't his ideal way of dieing, being wet and dirty. I just think that it's not their position to decide the way he dies. But yes you are right he would suffer, it's they have no right to do that. It is like that discussion people have that if there is a patient on life support and they think there's no chance for them they can take that person off but no that is just not right it is not their place to say whether are not to kill that person there are wait it out. (had this discussion last year)
ReplyDeleteOk so I already wrote a response but i wasn't signed in so it didn't post. I do see your point, they should have maybe transported him to a more comfortable place before he was killed and waited a bit longer but that would just be more suffering and he was in such bad shape doing anything would be very hard for him. like I said the pain he was in was so agonising finding out what he was thinking or talking to him would be useless because any of his answers would be unclear. the men were just looking out for him and doing what they thought was right. But it would make more sense to talk to a person on life support about the fact of taking them off it because their answer would be more relevant and you could carry on a conversatrion with them. that patiient didnt just have their hi tore offf.
